Technical Knowledge & Customer Guidance
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Tesla and EV repairs, European diagnostics, TPMS programming, Out of Province Inspections, and Global Warranty claims.
Can you service and diagnose my Tesla without going to the Tesla Service Center?
Yes. We have access to factory-level Tesla Toolbox software and specialized diagnostic tooling. We perform suspension arm and bushing replacements, regenerative brake caliper overhauls, high-voltage isolation fault testing, 12V/16V low-voltage auxiliary battery replacements, AC thermal loop service, and computerized steering angle calibrations.
Do electric vehicles (EVs) really need maintenance if there is no engine oil?
Absolutely. While EVs eliminate spark plugs and engine oil, they introduce critical systems that demand regular upkeep: hygroscopic brake fluid flushes (due to reduced brake usage from regenerative braking leading to slide-pin binding), dedicated low-conductivity inverter coolant flushes, HEPA cabin and AC desiccant bag changes, and regular suspension alignments to counter rapid tire wear caused by instant electric torque and vehicle curb weight.
Why is my TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light flashing, and can you program new sensors?
A solid TPMS light indicates low tire pressure, but a light that flashes for 60 to 90 seconds before staying solid indicates a system malfunction—most commonly a dead internal lithium battery in one of the wheel sensors (which typically last 5 to 8 years). We supply OEM and universal programmable TPMS sensors (315MHz & 433MHz), clone your original sensor IDs, and perform OBD-II relearn procedures so your dashboard stays free of warning lights.
Do you sell tires and perform road-force balancing?
Yes. We are a direct tire supplier offering major brands including Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Pirelli, and Yokohama. We provide precision computer balancing, TPMS sensor installation, tire mounting for low-profile and run-flat tires, and seasonal tire changeovers.
Do you have factory-level diagnostic tools for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi/Volkswagen?
Yes. Rather than using generic OBD-II code readers, our shop is equipped with dealer-level diagnostic platforms: Mercedes-Benz XENTRY, BMW ISTA/INPA, and VAG ODIS for Audi and Volkswagen. This enables us to perform direct ECU programming, module cloning, transfer case and mechatronic adaptations, live CAN-bus oscilloscope tracing, component coding, and factory service interval resets.
Why does my BMW or Mercedes keep giving intermittent electrical errors or battery discharge warnings?
Modern European platforms utilize sophisticated distributed control networks (CAN-bus, LIN-bus, FlexRay, and MOST optical loops) with dozens of interconnected modules. When a vehicle exhibits an electrical issue or battery drain, a module may be failing to enter sleep mode. We utilize digital multimeters and current clamps to pinpoint microscopic milliamp parasitic drains without guessing or needlessly replacing expensive modules.
Do you service BMW and Mercedes dual-clutch and multi-speed automatic transmissions?
Yes. We service BMW ZF 8HP/6HP transmissions, Mercedes-Benz 722.9 (7G-Tronic) and 725.0 (9G-Tronic) units, as well as Audi/VW DSG and S-Tronic transmissions. We perform full pan, integrated filter, and OEM-spec synthetic fluid replacements alongside software-guided temperature-level fills and adaptation resets.
How does claims authorization work with Global Warranty at your shop?
We are an approved Global Warranty repair facility. If your car has mechanical coverage under Global Warranty, bring it directly to us. We perform the computerized diagnostic evaluation, compile the required inspection report and failure documentation, submit the claim directly to Global Warranty for authorization, and execute the repair once approved.
What is involved in a British Columbia Out of Province Inspection (OPI)?
An Out of Province Inspection is an ICBC-mandated, comprehensive vehicle safety check required before any vehicle brought into British Columbia from another province or country can be registered and insured. We perform rigorous bumper-to-bumper evaluations covering structural integrity, brakes, steering, suspension, tires, lighting, emissions equipment, and glass compliance.
Do you perform Uber, Lyft, and commercial vehicle safety inspections?
Yes. We provide certified commercial and rideshare vehicle safety inspections. We verify all regulatory mechanical requirements and provide the official compliance certificate so you can submit it to Uber, Lyft, or your fleet manager without downtime.
Do you work on diesel engines and DPF / emission system faults?
Yes. We service light- and medium-duty diesel vehicles including Ford Powerstroke, GM Duramax, Ram Cummins, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and European diesel passenger cars. We troubleshoot Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) soot accumulation, differential pressure sensors, DEF/SCR injector crystallization, and turbocharger actuator faults.
Will servicing my new car with Lex Auto Solutions void my manufacturer warranty?
No. Under Canadian consumer protection guidelines, you are free to service your vehicle at any certified independent facility without voiding your factory warranty. As long as services are completed following manufacturer mileage intervals and fluid specifications, your warranty remains fully intact. We provide itemized digital documentation for every service.
